Available Detector Options for GC Systems

Non-destructive detectors such as TCD and PID can be configured in tandem (or in series) with others to provide data from both detectors with a single injection.

FID - Flame Ionization Detector

Most commonly used detector in gas chromatography. Detects practically any organic compounds while generating little to zero signal for common carrier gases.

μECD - Micro Electron Capture Detector

Produces trace-level detection of halogenated organic compounds and aromatic pollutants. Ideal for environmental analysis.

TCD - Thermal Conductivity Detector

Used for GC analysis of permanent gases, light hydrocarbons, and compounds that do not respond well to FID.

PID - Photo Ionization Detector

Selectively responds to aromatic and olefinic hydrocarbons in the presence of alkanes and other saturated hydrocarbons.

NPD - Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector

Specific to nitrogen or phosphorus containing compounds. Ideal for pharmaceutical and pesticide analysis.

PDD - Pulsed Discharge Detector

Specific to nitrogen or phosphorus containing compounds. Ideal for pharmaceutical and pesticide analysis.

MSD - Mass Selective Detector

Specific to nitrogen or phosphorus containing compounds. Ideal for pharmaceutical and pesticide analysis.

Triple Quadrupole TQ Mass Spec

Specific to nitrogen or phosphorus containing compounds. Ideal for pharmaceutical and pesticide analysis.
